Who knew that one of the most exasperating parts of being an adult would be figuring out what to make for dinner every night for the rest of your life?
It’s amazing how motivating it can be to meal plan when it looks all pretty and cute, am I right?!? Well, I am here to help! Here are three different versions of my favorite printable weekly menu and grocery list pages. (Click on the image or caption to view both pages for each version and print!)
I don’t know about you but one of my most satisfying feelings is checking items off a list! Apparently, I have passed that character trait on to my daughter. She actually asks for one every day at home. Yes!! I have succeeded as a parent!!!
I am an elementary teacher, and mom of two young children but I am currently homeschooling this year, due to COVID. It has been my experience that checklists can aid in productivity for adults and children alike. Checklists serve as goals, enhance our intrinsic motivation by allowing for some choice and confidence, and prevent us from over taxing our working memory by allowing us to focus on the task at hand rather than attempting to remember what we were supposed to be doing.
Here are 6 versions of checklists to choose from to print and use with your children during at-home learning: (Click on the image or caption to print.)
She panicked. Her heart sank. She knew she wasn’t supposed to bring food and drinks upstairs and she hated, more than anything, to disappoint her mom. Mom was her favorite person in the world. But, she needed help. This clean up was way out of her league and she knew her mom always responded best to honesty and remorse anyways. So, she called out, “Mooooooommmmmmm!” and the result was astounding.
We have all been there, at one time or another. We broke a rule, thinking it would be fine, and it was. Until it wasn’t. This is what happened when my 9 year-old daughter decided it would probably be fine to take her bright red Watermelon Mojito Tropical Smoothie upstairs to her bedroom.
One slip was all it took and that extremely large cup of sweet, red, goodness had completely emptied itself all over our builder-grade, light beige carpet. Sigh.
Never fear! It’s okay! This was just a challenge. One I was really curious to see if my Norwex could overcome. I usually had faith but this was really red.
In the past 6 months, I have been undertaking a major ditch and switch in our house. I was replacing all of our toxic cleaning products with safer alternatives in an effort to keep my family healthy. Norwex has become a much needed solution and blessing for me and my family and this incident was again proof of its amazing abilities.
I quickly grabbed the tools I would need to fight the stain: bath towels (to soak up the mass of liquid), a wet Envirocloth, my spray bottle of Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent diluted in water, and Norwex Carpet Stain Remover.
Step one was to soak up as much of the red puddle as I could manage using the bath towel. I made sure to choose a dark color for blotting (one that I knew wouldn’t bleed into the carpet) in an attempt to avoid another stain removal activity for the day. Once that was done, I sprayed the area with the diluted UPP and wiped it gently in all directions with the wet Envirocloth. This erased the majority of the stain! Success! But, it still wasn’t perfect. There was still a tinge of watermelon pink in the carpet fibers so I spritzed with the Carpet Stain Remover and wiped again with the Envirocloth. Voila! Stain obliterated! Mom – 1 Watermelon Mojito Smoothie – 0 and better yet, no tears from daughter or myself. All was well with the universe and it was all done using mechanical cleaning with a little help from a USDA biobased certified enzymatic stain remover!

The Heart of It is that we all make mistakes and instead of anger and frustration, its better to confront those mistakes with confidence, compassion, and grace, knowing that we can fix them and move forward. It’s much easier to do that when you are confident in the power and safety of the tools you have to fix the mistakes.
